Certified Acoustical Performance

Don't take our word for it. Listen.

Every number on this page comes from an independent, certified lab test — and so does every sound. These are the actual recordings from those impact tests: the same standard tapping machine, the same floor-ceiling assemblies, different floors. Higher HIIC = quieter.

The Headline Test

One product with acoustics built in — vs. a two-product system.

Same wood-frame assembly, tested both ways. Soundstop's integrated acoustic core out-performed a conventional 2mm LVT installed over a separate 1/8″ soundmat — by 14 HIIC points. Play both and hear what that difference sounds like.

What you're hearing

A standard lab tapping machine striking the floor above — the identical impact source used in every certified test, recorded from the room below.

What HIIC measures

High-frequency impact noise — the tapping, clicking range that best predicts the quiet occupants actually perceive. Higher is quieter.

How to compare

Keep your volume the same between clips and listen for the sharpness of each tap. The differences you hear are the rating differences.

The Full Library

Every recording, by assembly.

Acoustic ratings belong to the tested assembly, not the plank alone — so listen within each group, then compare across them.

Every recording on this page, placed on the HIIC scale (50–75). Soundstop hits 68 with no soundmat at all — the mat-based systems around it each need an extra product and an extra install to get there.

Certified Numbers

The data behind the sound.

Independent lab results for Soundstop Glue Down across the assemblies it has been tested in. Lab values (per ASTM E90 airborne / E492 impact / E1007); field results typically run a few points lower — confirm the exact requirement for your jurisdiction and cite the current report in your submittal.

Have an acoustical requirement to meet?

Send the floor plan and the required ratings. We'll match the format, send the certified reports, and quote it wholesale.

Note: acoustical ratings are properties of a tested assembly, not of flooring alone. Recordings are from certified laboratory impact tests; playback loudness depends on your device — keep your volume constant between clips and compare relative sound. Always confirm the rating and test conditions required by your jurisdiction and cite the current report in your submittal.
