Wood truss + gyp-crete: open-web truss with gypsum-concrete topping, R-13 batt insulation, and a resilient-channel 5⁄8″ gypsum-board ceiling. 6″ concrete slab: structural concrete floor-ceiling assembly. Full construction details are in each numbered report.
The Technology
Soundstop uses a BA-cored construction with an integrated acoustic backing, so the sound-dampening layer is bonded to the plank rather than shipped and installed separately. Painted beveled edges give a finished, monolithic look while the core does the acoustic work.
Formats
Soundstop comes in two acoustical formats — both with the soundmat built into the plank. Choose the one that fits the assembly and the install method.
3–5 mm
Bonds directly to the subfloor with the acoustic backing built in. The low-profile choice for slab and gyp-crete assemblies where a permanent glue-down finish is preferred.
5–6.5 mm
A rigid-core floating floor carrying the same integrated soundmat. No adhesive, faster to install, and the thicker builds carry the highest impact ratings.
First-floor cost saver: on ground floors and slab-on-grade — where there's no occupancy below to isolate — we supply a visually matching glue-down LVT without the acoustic core. The floor reads continuously across the building while you only pay for acoustic performance where the code actually requires it.
